Dr. Jean Proulx is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Sherbrooke. He holds a Ph.D. (Civil Engineering), 1994, “Étude expérimentale et simulation numérique de l’interaction barrage-réservoir-fondation” from the University of Sherbrooke; an M.Sc.A. (Civil Engineering), 1991, “Tests dynamiques du Pont Milnikek” from the University of Sherbrooke and a B.Ing. (Civil Engineering), 1989 from University Laval, Quebec, QC. His research interests are:

  • Seismic engineering and structural dynamics: ambient and forced vibration testing, cyclic and pseudo-dynamic testing and vibration-based damage detection;
  • Finite element modelling: dam-foundation-reservoir interaction, model correlation with dynamic test results.

He is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), and the International Association of Bridges and Structural Engineers (IABSE). He is President of the Student Affairs Committee for the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE).
