Dr. Jag Humar is Distinguished Research Professor of Civil Engineering at Carleton University. His research interests include structural dynamics, structural health monitoring and earthquake engineering, and he has widely published in these areas. He is the author of a book entitled “Dynamics of Structures”, first published by Prentice Hall in 1990. The second edition was published in 2002 by Balkema Publishers of Netherlands. Dr. Humar serves as a member of the Canadian National Committee on Earthquake Engineering, and in that capacity has been closely associated with the development of new seismic provisions for NBCC.
Dr. Humar is a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering as well as the Engineering Institute of Canada. He is the recipient of many awards and honours including CSCE’s Gzowski medal for his paper on Toronto’s SkyDome, for which he served as a special consultant, CSCE’s Whitman Wright award for contributions to the use of computers in civil engineering, and CSCE's A.B. Sanderson award for outstanding contributions to the field of structural engineering.
