Dr. J.J. Roger Cheng is a Professor and the C.W. Carry Chair in Steel Structures at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1984), an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1981), and a B.Sc. in Hydraulic Engineering from National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan (1976). His research interests are: Steel Structures, Cold-Formed Steel Structures, Structural Stability, Fracture and Fatigue of Steel structures, Engineered Wood Structures, Advanced Composite Materials, Rehabilitation of Structures Using Advanced Composite Materials, Energy Pipelines, Remote Monitoring and Intelligent Processing.
He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Structural Stability Research Council, and Advanced Composite Materials in Bridges and Structures.
