Dr. John F. Bonacci is Associate Professor and Director of Structural Testing Laboratories in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. His research interests include service-life extension of corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete infrastructure using fibre reinforced composites and fibre optic sensing for smart repair systems, mechanics of reinforced concrete, earthquake resistance of structures and structural demolition technologies. Dr. Bonacci has published journal articles and conference papers in Canada, the U.S. and Europe and is a member of numerous technical committees of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, the American Concrete Institute, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is also a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, a voting subcommittee member of ACI's building code committee, and as past Chair of the technical committee on connections in reinforced concrete structures, led the publication of ACI 352R-02.
