Mr. Bruce Blackett received his BASc (Civil) in 1967 from the University of British Columbia. He is a professional engineer currently registered in the Province of Alberta, and previously registered in Manitoba from 1984 to 1998. He is currently General Manager of P. Kruger Concrete Ltd. in Edmonton, and has also held positions with Earth Tech Canada Inc., Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd. and Con-Force Structures Limited.

His professional involvements include the Canadian Prestressed Concrete Institute (Ottawa), the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (Chicago), and founding member of the ACI Manitoba Chapter (Winnipeg). He has been a member of the ISIS Canada Technology Transfer and Commercialization Committee since 1997, and a member of the ISIS Board of Directors since 2000.

Mr. Blackett has an interest in innovation in construction, and he believes that ISIS technologies address many of the problems facing the concrete structure industry. He became involved with ISIS Canada while working for Con-Force Structures on construction of the Taylor Bridge in Manitoba. He and his colleagues contributed to the development of real life methods of incorporating carbon fibre prestressed tendons into a production environment. Some of the challenges that they had to overcome were to deflect the tendons without splitting; to adapt industry standard stressing equipment to carbon fibre; and coordination of production activities with monitoring and research activities.
